Junior enlisted veterans returning to civilian life have diverse skills and tremendous potential but often face challenges upon their return.

45% of active-duty military members are between the ages of 18-25, nearly all of whom are junior enlisted (E1 – E5) service members. The average age of junior enlisted personnel at the time of their transition from military to civilian life is 25 (Department of Defense).

Only 21% enlisted members have a job lined up before transitioning out of the military (Pew).

Native Americans serve in the military at a rate higher than the national average and face even greater challenges when they transition to civilian life.

Hesperus is the only Veteran Serving Organization focusing on supporting and connecting Native American veterans to meaningful employment pathways in the tech industry.

According to Hesperus, these veterans have among the lowest incomes and are more likely to be unemployed. They are also least likely to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

The Schultz Family Foundation has invested in veterans since 2014, supporting more than 75,000 veterans transitioning from military to civilian life. We are grateful for their service to our country.
